About Cathy Szeplaki
Community Empowerment Worker | Staff Team
Cathy has been a resident of Knaresborough for 34 years though originally comes from north London. She is married and has two grown-up sons.
Cathy completed her training as an Occupational Therapist in Exeter in 1989 and comes to us after a 35-year career as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS. She has specialised in working with older people both in hospital and in the community. She also completed her MSc in 2010 whilst working in Children’s Occupational Therapy at Leeds Children’s Hospital. She has written for publication for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Cathy’s experience in volunteering has been largely through Girl Guiding where she has run Brownie Packs and been a Division Commissioner. She is currently an occasional helper with Guides in Starbeck.
Cathy’s passion is enabling people to be able to access purposeful and meaningful occupation to stay healthy and independent. She advocates for healthy aging which includes running ‘Move It Or Lose It!’ classes in Knaresborough.
