Knaresborough emergency Response
Chain Lane Community Hub is proud to be member of Knaresborough’s Emergency Community as part of their Emergency Resilience Plan. Led by Knaresborough Town Council the plan aims to support our communities to develop procedures and processes in to ensure
local resources and expertise are available to help them in an emergency, in a way that complements the response of the emergency services.
The plan’s Objectives are:
• to identify local risks, resources and vulnerable groups
• identification and utilisation of local resources to help in the response by providing support to emergency services
• helping those that are vulnerable, by providing shelter, care, support, information or practical help
• establishment of an Emergency Committee to provide a point of contact for emergency responders and the community and to determine priorities
• maintain communications within the community and with North Yorkshire Council
• managing the response of local voluntary organisations
• represent the community
• assisting with community recovery
As Knaresborough’s Community Anchor organisation Chain Lane Community Hub has a key role to play in emergency response, not only as a refuge venue, but by providing a headquarters for Emergency Response Teams, an accessible place for people to access information, advice and support and coordination of volunteers and community assistance.
We played a key role in the biblical May 2024 rainfall event in Knaresborough, working alongside North Yorkshire Council and Knaresborough Town Council to support residents from the 54 households affected by this major flooding event in the Town.
